Gewurztraminer Altenberg de Bergheim Grand Cru 2019 - Gustave Lorentz
94/100 Parker
Stephan Reinhardt: The 2019 Gewurztraminer Grand Cru Altenberg de Bergheim opens with a bright and elegant nose, blending herbaceous and floral notes, as well as delicate spicy and mineral touches, inherited from the red clay-limestone soils. Dense and rich on the palate, this is a full-bodied, concentrated, and saline Gewurztraminer with a refined bitterness and impressive tannic structure. Aromas of passion fruit and mango, enhanced by hints of kumquat, define the fruity texture of this developing Altenberg. Alcohol content of 14% and 27 g/l of residual sugars. Tasted at the estate in April 2024. Drink from 2025 to 2064.
Magnificent Gewurztraminer coming from the very famous hillside of Bergheim and facing south. This Grand Cru reveals great power, virility and finesse on very ripe exotic notes (mango, lychee, passion fruit). Its mouth is fat, dense and gives off an impressive depth of floral, fruity and spicy aromas (rose water, papaya, kumquat).
Intense grape variety! It is a real aromatic palette, rich and exuberant. It is a full-bodied, well-structured wine with fullness and fatness.
