Gewurztraminer is a noble grape variety used mainly for white wines from Alsace. It is also called aromatic pink savagnin. It represents 18 % of the wine-growing area of Alsace with 2 500 hectares. The origin of the name Gewurztraminer comes from the Italian Tyrol where German is spoken: "Gewurtz" means "flavoured" and "Traminer" comes from the town of Tramin in South Tyrol (North-East Italy). Consult our Alsace wines
