Wine from the Ferraton estate
95/100 Wine Spectator
Cellaring potential : Best from 2024 to 2036
Early 2022 tasting note by James Molesworth: "Fresh, warm and intoxicating, with plum, blackberry and fig notes, underscored by licorice root, loam and ganache flavors. A subtle violet note creeps in on the finish.- JM".
100% Syrah grape variety. Vines are about 30 years old and grafted on site.
SOIL
Terraces of rolled pebbles facing due south on the Méal hillside.
VINIFICATION Destemmed
harvest, vinified in concrete vats (for better thermal inertia) for about 4 weeks (depending on the vintage). Extraction by pumping over and pigeage.
MATURING
In oak barrels for 14 to 18 months depending on the vintage (30 to 50% new barrels).
TASTING
Appearance : brilliant, very intense ruby.
Nose : small black fruits, some notes of leather.
Palate : powerful and concentrated wine. Lots of fullness and structure, long on the palate.
A wine to be kept for a long time.
