Loire - Domaine de Bellevue - Jérome Bretaudeau
- Grape variety : 100% Melon de Bourgogne
- Wine tasting : This beautiful Muscadet reveals a fresh nose with finesse. Floral notes; citrus fruits and foam. One can also smell anise and coriander, even a touch of mint. The palate shows a vibrant and lively wine. One will also notice the mineral and ample side. A salty and tense wine.
- The winemaker: Jérome Bretaudeau is known for his extravagance, both in the grape varieties he grows and in the winemaking techniques he uses. He manages mainly Melon de Bourgogne vines (90%), but also Chardonnay, Savagnin, Folle Blanche, Pinot Gris and Sauvignon Gris. These grape varieties are rather rare. For reds, the breakdown is as follows: 40% Cabernet Franc, 12% Gamay Noir à Jus Blanc, 40% Merlot, 20% Pinot Noir and 12% Cabernet Sauvignon. He experiments a lot and has stainless steel tanks, tuns, barrels, concrete eggs and amphorae for his vinification and maturation.
- Organic and Biodynamic wine - Certified by FR-BIO-01 Agriculture
- Aging potential : In order for them to reveal their full potential, you can taste this wine after 6 months to 1 year after its release. The aging capacity is 5 to 7 years.
A SAVOIR :
At the heart of the Domaine's wines are three cuvées of Muscadet vieilles vignes: Gabbro, Granit and Gaïa. The differences between these three cuvées are largely a function of soil type and altitude; all three are fermented in tanks with indigenous yeasts at low temperatures:
• Gaia is unique in that it is aged in ovoid (egg-shaped) amphorae.
• The Gabbro and Granite are aged in tanks on their lees with weekly stirring.
