- By William Kelley in 2018: "The 2015 Chassagne Montrachet 1er Cru Morgeot Clos de la Chapelle is already very expressive, floating in the glass with a sumptuous bouquet of poached pear, vanilla bean, yellow stone fruit and toasted nuts - very similar to its barrel presentation. On the palate, the wine is textured, full-bodied and rich, with notable chewy extract, impressive mid-palate presence and ripe acids. While this is undeniably a rich, ripe white Burgundy, everything is in harmony, and the wine's considerable reserves of concentration and structure lead me to believe that it could surprise with bottle age."
- Grape variety : Chardonnay
GEOGRAPHICAL LOCATION
Located in the southern part of the Côte de Beaune, Chassagne-Montrachet is one of the 5 villages making up the prestigious "Côte des Blancs". Facing East and South-East, the soil of the Premiers Crus of Chassagne is mainly composed of clay and limestone.
CHARACTERISTICS
Morgeot is one of the best Premier Crus of Chassagne. It is located in the south of the commune. The soil is deep, with marl and clay.
VINIFICATION AND MATURATION
The grapes are harvested by hand in small boxes in order to preserve the integrity of the fruit. The grapes are then gently pressed and fermented in the barrels of our cooperage, a third of which are new. The maturing lasts about 15 months on fine lees before the preparation for bottling.
