Meursault Charmes 1er cru 2020 - Louis jadot
Great Bourgogne estate
95/100 James Suckling
Tasted by James Suckling in 2020: "A very opulent white with pure apple, mango and lemon pie character. Some caramel nuances. A wine with depth and intensity on the palate, a creamy texture and a framework of acidity. Lots of flavor with nice wood and a complement of vanilla to the fruit at the end. Drink it or keep it."
GEOGRAPHICAL SITUATION
Meursault, in the south of the Côte de Beaune, is renowned for its great white wines. Its vineyard is spread out on slopes between 230 and 360 meters of altitude.
CHARACTERISTICS
Nice first growth resting on a magnesian limestone soil. It is located on brown soils in different layers on top of the mother rock from the bottom of the hillside to mid-slope. The vineyard faces east.
VINIFICATION AND MATURATION
- The grapes are harvested manually in small crates in order to preserve the integrity of the fruit. The grapes are then gently pressed then fermented in barrels from our cooperage, a third of which are new. The maturing lasts 15 months on fine lees before preparation for bottling.
- Serving temperature : 12-14 C°.
