Buy wine: Mouton Rothschild 1978
Pauillac - Premier Grand Cru Classé
The label of Château Mouton Rothschild 1978 by Jean-Paul Riopelle.
Jean-Paul Riopelle was a Canadian artist, originally from Montreal, recognized for his work in abstract art and expressionism. He was chosen to create the label for the 1978 vintage of Mouton Rothschild because of his international reputation and artistic talent. The label designed by Riopelle for this vintage is a remarkable example of the association of art and wine.
The artist used bright colors and abstract shapes to represent his interpretation of wine and the Bordeaux region. This collaboration between a great artist and a great winery resulted in a work of art that became iconic and became an important part of the Mouton Rothschild label collection. Each year, the Château Mouton Rothschild labels continue to reflect the creativity and artistic expression of the guest artist for that particular vintage.
