Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Referts 2019 - Olivier Leflaive
Domaine Olivier Leflaive
94/100 James Suckling
Tasting July 26, 2021: "A fairly rich wine with the body and tannic base we normally associate with neighboring Meursault. So much substance, but the bright, lemony, chalky finish lifts that mass without any issues. Drink or keep."
TASTING
Refined and concentrated nose: citrus, apricot, then notes of honey and butter often appear with age. The palate combines the finesse of Puligny-Montrachet with a dense, fleshy texture.
LOCATION
Surface of the production area: 5,52 ha
Altitude: 230-250 m
TERROIR
Closest to Meursault 1er Cru "Charmes", separated from its neighbour by the famous "Chemin des Moines". The marly soil at the top is more ferruginous at the bottom and, as a result, produces a Puligny-Montrachet that is a little smoother and fatter than the others. Sensitive to over-ripening.
