Montrachet Grand Cru 2018 - Bouchard Père et Fils
(94 - 96)/100 Parker
As William Kelley commented on January 9, 2020: "The Montrachet Grand Cru 2018 rises from the glass with an expressive bouquet of spiced pears, orange oil, white flowers, nutmeg and custard. On the palate, it is full-bodied, fleshy and enveloping, with a deep, concentrated, layered and textured heart, supported by lively, balancing acids and ending with a long, expansive finish".
In the 13th century, the Cistercian monks received as a donation a few vines located on "le Mont Chauve" or "Mont Rachaz", between Puligny and Chassagne. Over the centuries, the Montrachet earned the nicknames of "white vine of the Lord" or "King of Kings". Today it is considered the greatest dry white wine in the world. Coming from a very poor terroir, it proves that the greatest wines often come from regions where the growing conditions are the most extreme. In 1838, Bouchard Père & Fils acquired 89 acres of this unique vineyard.
