Pommard Les Vignots 2019 - Nicolas Rossignol
(90 - 92)/100 Parker
Tasted by William Kelley on January 14, 2021: "The 2019 Pommard Les Vignots bursts with aromas of sweet red berries, raw cocoa, spice and potpourri. Layered and lively, it's sharper and tighter than the richer Les Noizons, its charming core of fruit supported by a lively backbone of acidity, a signature of this cooler, stonier, higher elevation site."
Geographical location: Situated above the Pommard hill, near Les Arvelets, on the Beaune side. Facing south.
Soil and environment : The soil is on a very steep slope, erosion giving a very poor, very stony soil. This high plot (characteristic giving its name to this terroir) was not affected by Phylloxera in the 19th century: these plants were used to create the grafted plants that are now grown in the Côte de Beaune.
The vine: A blend of 50-year-old vines.
The wine: A fresh and mineral wine with chalky tannins. The sunshine allows a good maturity of all the components.
