Paul Jaboulet Aîné & Fils - From the estate
(93 - 95)/100 Parker
- Cellaring: 2022 - 2040
- Tasted by Joe Czerwinski on May 13, 2021: "Another terrific-looking wine from the granite slope between Mauves and Tournon, Jaboulet's 2019 Saint Joseph Domaine de la Croix des Vignes is inky and fairly compact with notes of crushed stone, black currants and violets emerging with time in the glass. Perhaps a little bigger than the 2018, it retains a classic gritty structure and shape on the palate, finishing long, powerful and rich."
Paul Jaboulet's Saint-Joseph La Croix des Vignes is a red wine produced in France's Rhône Valley wine region. The Paul Jaboulet winery is renowned for its expertise and quality wines.
STYLE AND TASTING
- Saint-Joseph La Croix des Vignes is generally described as a powerful, elegant red wine. It is made from the Syrah grape, which is typical of the Saint-Joseph region. This wine comes from vines planted on granite soils, which give it a distinct minerality.
- When tasted, Paul Jaboulet's Saint-Joseph La Croix des Vignes has a deep, intense color, often purple or dark ruby. On the nose, it reveals intense aromas of black fruits such as blackberry and cherry, accompanied by spicy notes of licorice and black pepper. Certain vintages may also display hints of violets or cocoa.
- On the palate, this wine is full-bodied and structured, with firm but fine tannins. It offers great complexity and long aromatic persistence. Black fruit flavors blend harmoniously with spicy notes, while minerality adds a touch of freshness. Depending on the vintage, Saint-Joseph La Croix des Vignes can be drunk young to enjoy its fruity freshness, or kept for a few years to develop further complexity and aromatic nuances.
