St Peray Les Figuiers 2019 - Bernard Gripa
91/100 Parker
Cellaring : Now to 2025
Tasted by Joe Czerwinski on January 20, 2022: "A hint of stuck match appears on the nose of the 2019 Saint Peray Les Figuiers, along with notes of pear and citrus. A 60-40 blend of barrel-fermented roussanne and marsanne, it is medium-bodied, streamlined and silky-textured, with bright lime flavors on the long finish. Still very young, it looks like it could be drunk for more than two or three years."
Appellation : Saint - Péray Cuvée "Les Figuiers".
Estate: Bernard GRIPA
Area in Production: 1.5 Ha
Average age of the vineyard: 48 years
Planting Density: 6,500 Feet / Ha
Soil type : Clay and limestone
Grape varieties: 60% Roussanne and 40% Marsanne.
Average yield : 40 Hl / Ha
Vinification and maturing: The grapes are harvested by hand. The whole grapes are pressed slowly and the juice is then vinified in oak barrels. After the alcoholic and malolactic fermentations, the wines are aged only in 228 litre oak barrels on fine lees with stirring. Bottling takes place in the autumn one year after the harvest. This cuvée reflects a very beautiful expression of the terroir.
