Still very young, this unusually elegant dry muscat has fantastic interplay of salty minerality and restrained richness. Great concentration and extremely fine tannins on the texturally complex, medium-bodied palate. Very long finish with a positive hint of bitterness. Really needs some time in the bottle. This unique configuration preserves a superb balance with moderate alcohol levels, naturally leading to very dry profiles. Capable of extraordinary aging—as evidenced by the oldest bottles in the estate’s cellar—the Goldert imparts a complexity and reputation to Muscat that is unmatched in Alsace. Tasting Notes (August 2024) Appearance: A brilliant, pale yellow hue. Nose: Unlike its usual youthful austerity, the 2023 vintage is remarkably exuberant. The aromatics are intense, blending notes of boxwood and ripe yellow fruit with a delicate touch of menthol. Palate: While the nose suggests generous roundness, the attack immediately asserts a sense of precision and structure. The combination of noble bitterness and fine acidity gives this Goldert a taut, finely chiselled texture, leading to a bone-dry, exquisitely delicate finish. The terroir’s minerality dominates the palate, overshadowing the initial aromatic intensity. A magnificent gastronomic wine, ideal for pairing with dishes that demand both intense aromatics and a straight, tightly structured profile.
