Bottles of Santenay-Maladière 1er Cru 2023 - Prieur Brunet - Louis jadot
Directly from the wine estate
94/100 Suckling
Alluring red fruit aromas waft from the glass of this well-structured Santenay. I appreciate its mineral vibrancy and fine, well-balanced tannins. A touch of licorice underscores the freshness of the long, velvety finish. Drink or hold.
The Maladière climate is located mid-slope, at an altitude of 300 to 320 meters. The western part has a brown, more clayey soil, while the eastern part has a limestone slab. The estate covers 5 hectares, with some vines over 50 years old.
CHARACTERISTICS
Wines from this terroir are characterized by powerful structure and aromatic complexity, enhanced by long barrel ageing.
VINIFICATION AND AGEING
The grapes, with their very dark berries, are destemmed and vinified in open vats for around 4 weeks, allowing the full finesse of the terroir to express itself. After devatting, the wines are transferred to oak barrels in our cellars, where they age for 18 months.
