Hommage à Jacques Perrin 2009 - Château de Beaucastel
99/100 Parker
Tasting notes by Jeb Dunnuck: ‘The 2009 Chateauneuf du Pape Hommage À Jacques Perrin is of stunning quality, with an extraordinary bouquet of Provençal herbs, truffles and wet dog aromas intermixed with classic blueberry, blackberry and cassis fruit. Massive and full-bodied on the palate, with a density and decadence that are scarcely believable, this wine has the fruit to be drunk now, but the concentration, mid-palate, tannins and balance will allow it to age for 3 to 4 decades. Made from a blend of 60% mourvèdre, 20% syrah and the rest counoise and grenache, this is one of the greatest wines of the vintage.’
When to drink this wine : 2015 - 2049
- Exceptional vintage of the estate
- Main grape variety : Old vines of Mourvèdre, the ancestral grape variety of Châteauneuf du Pape rehabilitated by Jacques Perrin.
- Tasting: this is a wine of incredible concentration. Great aromatic complexity - black fruits, spices, leather... - its tannins are fine, noble and elegant. Very pure.
- Aging potential: A remarkable ageing potential due to a particular vision of Châteauneuf du Pape, with the greatest respect for the terroir from which it comes.
- A remarkable terroir, very old vines worked in the most natural way possible, according to the principles of biodynamics dear to Jacques Perrin.
