Rather soft and ripe for a 2016 vintage. The tannins are supple for that year. Combined with rich blackberry flavors, this wine is very easy to drink.
This beautiful parcel of Beaune owes its name to the Germanic tribe of the Marcomans, who are said to have settled here in the 3rd century AD. Bouchard Père & Fils has owned this appellation since 1791, and now cultivates 2.32 hectares of vines on this terroir located at the northern tip of Beaune. The grey marly limestone beds on which it rests give this Premier Cru breed, character, elegance and bouquet.
TASTING NOTE: A bouquet of fruit aromas with a more tawny note. Delicately woody. Full-bodied and elegant, which gives it its personality. Good ageing potential.
WINE AND FOOD Pairings : Game, red meat in sauce, cheese.
TEMPERATURE : Between 17°C and 18°C
AGEING POTENTIAL : 7 to 10 years and more
HARVESTING : By hand, in small boxes of 13 kg. Careful manual sorting of each bunch.
VINIFICATION: After total or partial de-stemming depending on the vintage, fermentation in small containers and gentle pressing ensure optimal vinification. Depending on the profile of the vintage, vatting can last from 15 to 20 days.
AGEING: 12 to 14 months in French oak barrels, with 30 to 40% new barrels.
AGEING: The cellars of the Bastions of the old Château de Beaune offer natural environmental conditions perfectly suited to the ageing of Premiers Crus.
