Bollinger R.D 2002 - Champagne
From the estate
99/100 James Suckling
- When to drink this great champagne? : Right now.
- Tasted by J.S in 2012: "Super fresh, it's striking considering the 10 years in the cellar; it has a fine citrus nose - lots of lemon, grapefruit, hints of yellow chalk, some lighter floral elements too The palate is super dry (dosage at 3-4g) and there is a silky sorbet-like texture, smooth, fine and long. The citrus flavors give way to the driving soaring acidity, thunderous acidity, really driving and powerful. The finish twists very slowly towards lightness. Aromas of roasted cashews, but lemon citrus predominates. This is an exciting champagne. Disgorged on October 22, 2013."
R.D. for "Récemment Dégorgé (Recently Disgorged)": it was in 1967 that Madame Bollinger created this
mythical cuvée, offering the world the opportunity to taste a champagne that has been aged
on the lees to the extreme.
