Brut nature - Brut nature - Edition Starck blanc 2018 - Louis Roederer
From the estate
93/100 James Suckling
Berries and dried grapefruit with hints of salty biscuits, toast and flint on the nose of this dry Champagne. Very savory yet rich, broad shouldered and textured, too, with a firm, chalky finish. From lieu-dit La Riviere in Cumieres.
Cellaring potential: 2026 - 2035+
Tasting note: The Starck Brut Nature shows beautifully, bursting from the glass with an expressive bouquet of lemon oil, crisp green apple, wheat toast, hazelnut and wet stones. On the palate, it's full and fleshy, with its generous core of concentrated, delicately sun-kissed fruit, girded by lively acids and an undeniable mineral grip, and complemented by a delicate, spiky mousse. Concluding with a saline finish, this lovely wine is a blend of 55% Pinot Noir, 25% Pinot Meunier and 20% Chardonnay, reflecting its origins in Cumières.
