From the estate
This Chardonnay comes from the "Vers Cras" terroir, located at an altitude of 230 meters on very stony, white limestone soils sloping towards the east. This type of soil, poor and mineral, favors a precise and taut expression of the grape variety, giving rise to wines marked by freshness and finesse rather than richness.
The wine benefits from nine months of aging in barrels on its fine lees, followed by a few months in tanks, a method that brings complexity and balance while preserving aromatic purity. Thanks to this structure and its natural minerality, it has significant aging potential, estimated at ten years or more.
In its youth, "Vers Cras" displays a brilliant pale yellow color and a subtle nose with notes of citrus and acacia. The style is closer to a Chablis profile than a Mâconnais: the palate is taut, saline, and intense, supported by a tight texture and a fine bitterness. The long, fresh finish reflects the mineral origin of the terroir, located on the windy plateau of Beauregard in the heart of the Pouilly-Fuissé appellation, in southern Burgundy.
