Morgon 2016 - Château des Jacques
Beautiful Beaujolais estate
92/100 James Suckling: "This wine is very linear. Graphite and slate nuances. Medium-bodied, tight and concentrated with ultra-fine tannins. Gorgeous finish. Drink it or keep it." JS
PRESENTATION OF THE CUVÉE
- Grape variety : Gamay
- Characteristics : This vintage is a blend of three climates : Bellevue, Côte du Py, Roche noire. The vines are planted on pink granite or diorite - blue rock emblematic of the Côte du Py, depth and alteration varying according to the parcels.
- Vinification : Hand picked in boxes, sorted and often destemmed, the grapes macerate slowly for three to four weeks. The fermentation is punctuated by punching down or pumping over, depending on the nature of the vintage.
- Aging and bottling: The wines are aged for 10 months in concrete vats and in oak barrels of one wine, two wines and new, in our old cellar of the 17th century. The wood comes from the forests of the Nivernais, the Limousin and the Allier.
- Tasting / Pairings : Morgon is marked by its richer volcanic terroir. Powerful and muscular, the tannins keep the characteristic suppleness of Gamay. Its depth and its violet aromas predispose it to go with dishes of character.
- Preservation : Two to three years are necessary for this wine to begin to deliver itself. It has a life potential of several decades.
