When to drink this wine : 2025 - 2040
Tasting by Joe Czerwinski in 2022: "There are 10 barrels of the 2020 Chateauneuf du Pape la Part des Anges this year. At the moment, the wine shows a lot of oak influence, but there is solid underlying fruit in the form of cherries and blackberries. It's quite powerful and strongly marked by cedar and vanilla, but remains silky and long on the finish. Give it time.
The Cuvée : A late ripening and very capricious grape variety, Mourvèdre is certainly one of the most demanding grape varieties in the south of France, especially when one is at the northern limit of its cultivation. This cuvée benefits from a fairly marked ageing process to accompany the tannic power of the grape variety. When a wine is put into barrel for ageing, part of its volume evaporates, and it is called "LA PART DES ANGES". La PART DES ANGES is a rather special cuvée for a Châteauneuf du Pape since it is the mourvèdre that dominates the blend (70%), followed by Grenache (20%) and a little Syrah (10%). You should decant if you wish to taste this cuvée before its first 2-3 years of aging.
Unfiltered wine.
