Côte Rôtie 1986 - Delas Frères
The 1986 Côte-Rôtie from Maison Delas Frères (notably released under the "Seigneur de Maugiron" label) comes from a cool, more understated vintage in the Northern Rhône Valley. Crafted from Syrah grapes grown on the vineyard’s steep slopes, this wine now displays a fully mature, tertiary profile: its color has taken on a brick-hued, mahogany-flecked appearance, while the nose reveals notes of forest floor, leather, smoked bacon, black pepper, tobacco, and dried dark fruits. On the palate, the initial tannic power has completely mellowed, resulting in a texture that is supple, fluid, and delicate—characteristic of classic-style older vintages. It is best enjoyed with careful attention, served at room temperature (16–17°C) alongside a subtle dish, such as game bird or a sauté of wild mushrooms.
