A stunning Hermitage combining both power and elegance, with an impressive range of red fruit aromas supported by delicate, refined tannins. Floral nuances, wet stone and graphite notes add remarkable depth and complexity. The palate is harmonious and beautifully balanced from the very first sip, leading into a generous yet structured finish with outstanding persistence. Aged exclusively in oak casks, including a small proportion of new wood, which enhances the wine without overshadowing its purity.
This superb Hermitage exudes remarkable energy and precision. It will benefit from a few years of aging to fully integrate its maturation. The wine was aged entirely in oak barrels (25% new), and only the part from the Grandes Vignes underwent fermentation with 80% whole bunches.
- Appellation : Hermitage Rouge
- Vineyard: it extends over 3 communes in the Drôme: Tain-l'Hermitage, Crozes-Hermitage and Larnage.
- Soil: granitic, covered with micaschists and gneiss, but also with round alluvial pebbles (this diversity explains the presence of the following localities in the appellation: Bessards, Greffieux, Méal, Roucoule, Beaumes, etc.).
- Climate: sheltered from the north wind, most of the hillsides face south. Good sunshine.
- Area under production: 134 ha, annual production: 3,635 hl; maximum authorised yield: 40 hl/ha.
- Grape varieties: Syrah (15% Marsanne and Roussanne may be added).
- Terroirs: This cuvée is a blend of the following three terroirs: L'Ermite, le Sabot, and the prestigious terroir of Les Bessards. Average production Delas : 30.000 bottles (75 cl.) per year. Grape variety: 100% Syrah.
