Cuvée Laurence 2019 Magnum - Domaine du Pégau
Chateauneuf du pape - Feraud family
98/100 James Suckling
Drinking potential: Drink now through 2040+
"Very powerful, fleshy, and gamey, with wonderful spicy complexity on the palate, ample and structured. This wine displays remarkable concentration and fine, compact tannins. The finish, of monumental density, is exceptionally long. It's difficult to find the right words to describe such richness. This blend is identical to that of the Cuvée Réserve from the same producer, but its barrel aging is much longer, and it was bottled in February 2024."
Cuvée Laurence from Domaine du Pégau is one of the jewels in the crown of the Perrin family in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, embodying the elegance, finesse, and typicity of the terroir. This prestigious cuvée expresses the full richness of the vineyard thanks to a rigorous selection of the finest parcels and perfectly mastered traditional winemaking.
As for food pairings, this cuvée pairs wonderfully with gourmet dishes: game in sauce, herb-roasted lamb, beef stew, as well as mature cheeses. Thanks to its excellent aging potential, it can be enjoyed now by those who appreciate already complex wines, or it can be further enhanced for several years in the cellar.
