Côtes du Rhône
The Poignée de Raisin cuvée from Domaine Gramenon is a Côtes du Rhône red wine produced from the slopes and plateau of Gramenon, at an altitude of 350 meters, in the commune of Montbrison-sur-Lez in the southern Rhône Valley. The Grenache and Cinsault vines, aged 5 to 45 years, are cultivated biodynamically on clay-limestone and sandy soils. The estate sits on a unique terroir of siliceous sandstone and shells, remnants of ancient marine deposits dating back approximately 12 million years.
The blend is composed of 85% Grenache and 15% Cinsault, with a controlled yield of 35 hl/ha. The grapes are hand-harvested and carefully sorted before macerating for approximately fifteen days in concrete vats. Vinification is carried out naturally, using indigenous yeasts, partially destemmed grapes, and very limited use of sulfur to best preserve the expression of the fruit and terroir.
After fermentation and a light sulfiting, depending on the vintage, the wine is aged for six months in concrete vats before bottling after Easter. This approachable and delicious wine is designed to be enjoyed young, ideally within three years of the vintage, to fully appreciate its freshness and aromatic vibrancy.
