Full-bodied, the palate has lots of subtle earth and mineral accents with a firm, finely grained texture and great freshness lifting the long finish."

  TERROIR

 Haut-Brion 2010 is a blend of 23% Merlot, 57% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Cabernet Franc.

 A dry year, a dry summer. Climatologically, the vegetative period, from the beginning of April to the end of September, was the driest ever since 1949. This lack of water led to a phenomenon of dehydration, concentrating the constituent elements of the grape berry and obtaining quantitative values never before achieved, particularly in terms of sugar content. The very cool nights favoured the accumulation of anthocyanins and, as a result, the 2010 red wines are the most colourful of recent years.

 SERVICE 

 Château Haut Brion is best served at 15°C. For wines that have not been aged in barrels, decanting is not necessary. Aeration in a carafe is recommended when the wine is young and has been aged in oak barrels. For older wines, it is preferable to decant them for a few hours before serving them. The time to open in advance will be determined at the time of tasting, depending on how the wine evolves in the glass. When decanting, be careful not to drop the deposit in the decanter, it is never pleasant to have small pieces in the mouth when tasting.
