The Beaune vineyard, which stretches between Savigny-lès-Beaune to the north and Pommard to the south, is the largest in the Côte de Beaune. Although there are no Grands Crus in this commune, there are 36 Premiers Crus. Among them, “Clos des Ursules” is a small, walled parcel, part of the Beaune 1er Cru “Les Vignes Franches”. Acquired in 1826 by Louis Henry Denis Jadot, this parcel has remained in the Jadot family ever since. The central and southern areas of the vineyard produce powerful, tannic wines with intense color, while the northern part yields more delicate, generally less colorful wines.
Vinification and ageing :
The grapes, with their very dark berries, are destemmed and vinified in open vats for around four weeks, allowing them to fully express the complexity of their terroir. After devatting, the wines are transferred to oak barrels in our cellars, where they are aged for 18 months.
