Gevrey-Chambertin 2017 - Louis jadot
Great Bourgogne estate
93/100 Wine Spectator
- When to drink this wine: Now to 2042
- Tasting notes: "The bright cherry core of this red is framed by notes of smoke, vanilla and saline minerals. Vibrant and balanced, it is supported by dense tannins. The finish evokes elements of black cherry, plum and spice, extended by the crisp acidity. Best from 2022 to 2042"
- Serving temperature : 16-17 °C
- Recommended aging : 10 years (or even 15/20 years in excellent vintages)
Gevrey Chambertin is a commune located in the North of the Côte de Nuits. It has 26 Premier Crus and 8 Grand Crus.
The soils are calcareous with a good proportion of clayey marl giving the wines roundness and power as well as more or less depth.
VINIFICATION AND MATURATION
The grapes are harvested manually in small crates in order to preserve the integrity of the fruit. The grapes are then carefully sorted by hand and destemmed. Maceration of the grapes takes place in open wooden or stainless steel vats for 3 to 4 weeks. The vats are pumped over twice a day during the fermentation. The wine is aged for about 18 months in barrels from our cooperage, of which about a third are new.
