Château Mouton Rothschild 2002
Pauillac - Premier Grand Cru Rated
91/100 Parker & 91/100 Wine Spectator
Cellaring potential: Drink now through 2025.
Tasted in 2017 by Neal Martin: "Tasted blind as a vintage comparison at the Valandraud vertical, the 2002 Mouton-Rothschild is a wine that shone in its youth, though recent encounters suggest it may be starting to falter as it enters what might be called middle age. The 2002 Mouton-Rothschild has a conservative bouquet with aromas of blackberry, cedar, hot bricks, and melted tar - an uncomplicated, uncomplicated, and fairly serious Pauillac bouquet. The palate is well balanced with lively acidity. The entry is lively, with fine tannins, a nimble Mouton on its feet, with a slight grip toward the finish, which offers a satisfying aftertaste of spice and clove."
