Neal Martin: "The 1941 Rivesaltes from Château Sisqueille seduces with a captivating bouquet of quince, satsuma, mirabelle plum, and white flowers of remarkable precision. On the palate, the balance is perfect: crystalline purity, controlled acidity, and captivating flavors of quince, lemongrass, marmalade, and brown sugar. An exceptional vin doux naturel de guerre, of rare elegance, considered one of the greatest wines ever produced by this now-defunct estate."
Old vintages of Rivesaltes from Château Sisqueille are true gems of Roussillon, made primarily from Grenache and aged for decades in barrels before bottling. Over time, these vin doux naturels develop a deep amber color and a palette of rare complexity: dried fruits, honey, cocoa, coffee, caramel, and notes of rancio. Their balance between sweetness, freshness and power makes them timeless wines, perfect for meditation or special occasions.
