By Neal Martin in 2014: "Served from an ex-chateau bottle. The 1995 Château d'Yquem is entering its secondary aromatic phase. Deep golden in colour, it has a dense, almost Barsac-like bouquet of tangerine, apricot, acacia and melted candle wax. It has good intensity, unfolding beautifully in the glass. The palate has a strident opening, with a slight hint of bitterness that gives this Yquem great tension. Layers of honey-infused marmalade can be discerned, with a powerful, spicy finish that lingers long on the palate. "

This bottle comes directly from the private cellar of Alexandre de Lur Saluces, an emblematic figure of Château d’Yquem. A descendant of a prestigious lineage, he was one of the greatest architects of Yquem’s renown, which he managed for over 35 years. Considered the guardian of the Yquem style, he left his mark on the history of Sauternes through his exacting standards and expertise.
