By Jeb Dunnuck in 2015: "I was blown away by the 1999 Hermitage les Bessards, and seriously considered adding a point or two to the score. One of the most complex, classic and multidimensional in the lineup, it offers plenty of aromas and flavors of crushed rock-like minerality, smoky black fruits, spice and licorice. These give way to a full-bodied, deeply concentrated, layered and perfectly balanced wine that made me wish it was the end of the day so I could drink the whole glass. This is a wonderful wine to enjoy anytime over the next 15-20 years."
