"Tasting at Macle is always a privilege: Laurent is happy to open old vintages to compare with the current vintages. Alongside the 2016, we had the pleasure of tasting the remarkable Château Chalon 2015, a very accomplished version of the appellation.
The 2015 vintage, warm and sunny, produced powerful, ripe, but perfectly balanced wines. At the time, Laurent compared it to 2005 and 2022, but on tasting, it is more reminiscent of 2019 in its energy and consistency. The grapes were harvested on September 15, almost a month earlier than in 2013.
On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, silky, and beautifully concentrated. It displays a quiet strength, combining richness, freshness, and tension. The finish is long, precise, and carried by the mineral energy characteristic of great Château Chalon wines.
Aged for a long time, it was bottled in November 2022, with only 4,000 bottles produced. Enjoy now after decanting, or keep in the cellar until 2045 for lovers of great oxidative wines at their peak."
