Looking for great wines from Spain?

Spain is renowned for producing some of the world's most prestigious wines. Here are just a few examples of renowned Spanish wine regions and the wines they produce:

La Rioja: Located in northern Spain, Rioja is famous for its red wines made from the Tempranillo grape variety. Rioja wines are often aged in oak barrels, giving them great complexity and a long ageing capacity. Wine categories include Crianza, Reserva and Gran Reserva.

Ribera del Duero: This region, also in northern Spain, produces high-quality red wines from the Tempranillo grape (known locally as Tinto Fino or Tinta del País). Ribera del Duero wines are renowned for their richness, structure and elegance.

Priorat: Located in Catalonia, in northeastern Spain, the Priorat region is renowned for its powerful, concentrated red wines. The vines are grown on schist soils, which give the wines a distinctive minerality. Priorat wines are often made from Grenache (Garnacha) and Carignan (Cariñena) grapes.

Penedès: Located in Catalonia, the Penedès region is famous for its sparkling wines, particularly Cava. Cava is made using the traditional method, similar to that used for champagne, and is produced from a variety of grape varieties, including Macabeo, Xarel-lo and Parellada.

Sherry: The Jerez region of Andalusia is renowned for its unique fortified wine called Sherry. The main Sherry varieties include Fino, Amontillado, Palo Cortado and Pedro Ximénez. These wines are often aged in oak barrels and offer a wide range of flavors, from the driest and most delicate to the richest and sweetest.

These are just a few examples of the prestigious wines Spain has to offer. The country has many other renowned wine-growing regions, each offering its own unique characteristics and specific grape varieties.
