Vin jaune Arbois 2008 - Puffeney
(94–97)/100 - Robert Parker
Peak: 2016 - 2028
Production: Only 6,000 bottles
A legendary Vin Jaune in the making, crafted by one of the most respected winemakers in the Jura, Jacques Puffeney, often nicknamed "the Pope of Arbois." The 2008 vintage, still in barrel at the time of tasting, already promised remarkable intensity, sharp acidity, and a voluminous structure perfectly balanced by striking freshness.
Puffeney's very dry cellars are deliberately chosen to promote optimal aging under a veil, allowing the wine to develop its full complexity: orange peel, dried fruits, mild curry, blond tobacco, fresh walnuts, and smoky notes. All of this is supported by an opulent, saline, long, and vibrant palate. (The Wine Advocate)
A great Vin Jaune for aging, ideal for discerning connoisseurs and food lovers: pair with poultry with morels, aged Comté cheese, or langoustine curry.
