Order wine : Côte Rôtie La Mordorée 1999 Magnum - Chapoutier
Directly from the Chapoutier estate
95/100 Parker
"Made from 75-80 year-old Syrah vines planted on the two emblematic slopes of Côte Blonde and Côte Brune, this cuvée is aged in 100% new oak barrels and bottled without fining or filtration. On release, the wine presented a striking inky-purple color and an intense nose blending smoky blackberry, creosote and espresso.
On the palate, the structure is powerful and dense, still marked by tannins at the time of tasting". In his opinion, this is the greatest vintage of La Mordorée since 1991.
Enjoy now with roast meat, game, or mushroom dishes.
A great classic from the Northern Rhône Valley, by Chapoutier, from an intense and structured vintage. The 1995 Côte-Rôtie La Mordorée seduces with its dark color and complex nose of black raspberry, olive, roasted coffee, chocolate, and smoke. On the palate, the wine combines power and finesse, with beautiful density and rich aromas.
A wine made for aging, now reaching its full maturity. A superb example of traditional Côte-Rôtie, offering a deep and accomplished expression of the terroir.
