Rare bottles from the cuvée: Hermitage 1994 Vin de Paille - Half bottle - Chapoutier
Vin de Paille - Chapoutier - 37.5 cl
98/100 Robert Parker
Peak: 1996 - 2106
A legendary and extremely rare wine from the Rhône Valley, produced using the ancestral vin de paille method. Michel Chapoutier's 1994 Hermitage Vin de Paille is a legendary cuvée, unfiltered, aged entirely in new oak barrels, with an astonishing aging potential of over 100 years.
Its deep amber color heralds an exceptionally rich nose, blending butterscotch, very ripe peach, orange marmalade, and a subtle hint of black tea. The palate is a concentrate of voluptuousness: roundness, intensity, endless length, and a sensation of dried fruit and candied apricots.
A meditative wine, to be savored as a precious drop with foie gras, an apricot tart, or simply on its own, to appreciate the work of a winemaker at the height of his art. (Wine Advocate)
