"Made entirely from Syrah planted in sandy, clay and limestone soils, and fully destemmed, Gigondas Les Routes 2022 offers aromas of black pepper, licorice and black olive mingled with pronounced smoky notes. It is medium to full-bodied, structured and rich, with a beautiful core of fruit and an assertive tannic structure that gives it more tension, dryness and oak influence than other cuvées. It was aged in large barrels, then six months in vats before bottling."

Les Routes… — The Distinguished Syrah of the South

Made from a massal selection of Serine, this ancient Syrah strain originating from Hermitage, the Les Routes… cuvée reveals the southern elegance of a complex terroir. Located at the foot of the estate, the plot lies on a soil combining clay, sand, and limestone fragments, typical of the Font des Papes alluvial fan in Gigondas.

Tailor-made winemaking

This limited-edition wine (only 2,200 bottles and 100 magnums) is produced from a hand-harvested harvest carried out in late September. The grapes are destemmed, lightly crushed, then vatted by gravity in open demi-muids for expert micro-vinification. Extractions are gentle, performed by hand, and pumping over is measured to preserve finesse and depth. The vatting is long, to reveal all the aromatic complexity.

Aging and style

Aging takes place for 18 months in recent 600L demi-muids, with malolactic fermentation directly in oak barrels. The wine displays a velvety structure, a smooth texture, and a spicy black fruitiness driven by freshness.

Pairing & Aging Potential

Enjoy this wine young with roast suckling pig, a shoulder of lamb, or a venison filet mignon. It gains even more depth after a few years in the cellar. With age, it reveals a more noble, almost truffle-like character.
