Too Much I Need! A play on words with Fromenteau
Coteaux Champenois “Too Much I Need” – Drappier
The Coteaux Champenois “Too Much I Need” from Drappier celebrates Fromenteau, the historic Champagne name for Pinot Gris, a grape variety now extremely rare in Champagne. Unlike the sparkling Champagne of the same name, this cuvée is a still wine, revealing with even greater precision the original character of this ancient grape and the taste of wines of yesteryear.
Sourced from organically grown vines in Urville, on the estate's characteristic Kimmeridgian limestone soils, this Coteaux Champenois faithfully reflects its terroir. The natural, minimal-intervention winemaking aims to preserve the purity of the fruit and the expression of the grape variety, resulting in a wine with a full and silky texture, where mineral freshness balances a generous and subtly exotic character.
On the palate, the wine reveals a luminous golden hue and a delicate bouquet blending floral notes, yellow fruit, and slightly spicy nuances. Rich yet elegant, the palate extends this singular expression of Fromenteau. True to the Drappier spirit, this rare cuvée embodies a genuine heritage revival, celebrating a nearly extinct grape variety brought back to life with modernity and precision.
