"As always, the 2019 Gigondas Le Poste is a more elegant, ethereal, Burgundian-style wine that possesses incredible purity in its aromas and flavors of black and blue fruits, spring flowers, crushed stone and Provencal garrigue. It is never the biggest or richest wine in the lineup, but it is perhaps the most complex and nuanced. complex, as well as nuanced, and this beauty builds over time in the glass, is full-bodied, has a stacked mid-palate, and a finish. It is full-bodied, has a stacked mid-palate, and a finish that doesn't quit. It will flirt with perfection upon release and evolve for 20 to 25 years."
The winemaker tells you:
"Aged for twelve months: 20% in new barrels-50% in one-wine barrels-30% in two-wine barrels. If the Claux has my affection, the Poste has my heart. This somewhat magical place has always been the place where my mother gathered her thyme, rosemary, blackberries, figs, cherries and almonds. Elderberry and broom grow easily here and we even make honey with two hives: it will be the "honey of the post". Everything is intense and refined in this hillside. I sometimes dream of a "horizontal" tasting of this terroir, gathering all the marvels that it is capable of producing. But it will never be more than a dream because all these fruits of nature do not ripen simultaneously! Le Poste also has my heart because my father replanted this hillside in 1963. He was 35 years old and the photos of that planting show an energetic man capable of turning over mountains. That same year, he had to vinify what was undoubtedly the worst vintage of the century. And his Gigondas was of acceptable quality (a tour de force in 1963), with the help of his best friend, the oenologist Jean-Paul Laval, who at the time had the only oenological laboratory in the region."
