Savigny-Les-Beaune Blanc 1er Cru Clos des Guettes 2023 - Louis Jadot
94/100 Suckling
Terroir and Origin
The Savigny-lès-Beaune Blanc 1er Cru Clos des Guettes – Louis Jadot comes from a vineyard located in the heart of the Savigny-lès-Beaune appellation, north of the Côte de Beaune. The vines, planted between 220 and 360 meters above sea level, benefit from varied exposures (south, southeast, and east), promoting optimal ripeness of the Chardonnay grapes. The well-drained limestone, gravelly, and stony soils impart finesse, tension, and minerality to the wines produced from this terroir.
Winemaking and Aging
The grapes are harvested by hand and then gently pressed to preserve aromatic purity. Fermentation takes place in oak barrels, some of which come from the Louis Jadot cooperage. The wine is then aged on its fine lees for approximately 15 months in oak barrels, which imparts complexity, texture, and a subtle oak patina while respecting the expression of the terroir.
Style and Tasting Notes: This Premier Cru is distinguished by an elegant nose blending apple, white peach, and citrus, complemented by floral and lightly toasted notes. On the palate, it displays a beautiful balance between freshness and richness, supported by precise acidity and a delicate minerality. The long and harmonious finish makes it an ideal gastronomic wine to pair with fine fish, shellfish, poultry, or creamy cheeses.
