TERROIR AND TECHNICAL DATA
The domain tells you about it : "This wine of assembly reflects the whole of our vineyard in Gigondas. It finds its character in the diversity of eight different "lieux dits", expressed through four Rhodanian grape varieties. Red clay alluvium, limestone marl and blue clay contribute as much as Grenache and Syrah, Mourvèdre and Cinsault to the making of this intense and elegant wine. Each locality brings its own personality and complementarity. Marked by fruit and noble vegetal essences in its youth, it usually undertakes a slow evolution towards spicy notes during a few years of keeping."
- Grape varieties: Grenache 75%, Syrah 10%, Mourvèdre 13%, Cinsault 2%. (40 years of average age in organic culture).
- Vinification : Manual harvest with severe sorting, partial destemming, short maceration with pumping over and gentle punching down.
- Maturation : Maturation for 18 months in recent oak barrels, then harmonization in concrete tanks before bottling.
- Soil : Quaternary stony red clay alluvium in the following areas : Les Hautes Garrigues, Les Carbonnières, Les Rocassières, Santa Duc, Les Pailleroudas, Les Routes. Blue clays on the place : Goujard and Plane. Marls with calcareous elements of the Cretaceous period in the locality : Clos Derrière Vieille.
