Champagne Brut Grand Cru - Franck Bonville
Champagne Winemaker - Direct from Maison Bonville - Certified HVE (organic)
92/100 James Suckling & 92/100 Parker
The Brut Grand Cru cuvée from Champagne Franck Bonville is a refined interpretation of Blanc de Blancs made exclusively from Chardonnay grapes grown in the Grand Cru vineyards of Avize and Oger. This multi-year blend, combining three harvests, is vinified with meticulous care: alcoholic and malolactic fermentations take place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, the wine is aged in the cellars for a minimum of 30 months before disgorgement, and a typical dosage of around 4.2g/L, depending on the vintage. This moderate dosage allows the house to express all the mineral tension and elegance characteristic of its style.
On tasting, the wine displays pale yellow to golden hues, enlivened by a fine and persistent mousse. The nose opens with delicate aromas of white flowers, white peach, and grapefruit, quickly followed by a discreet and refreshing salinity. On the palate, the attack is lively and direct, the texture is supple, then evolves into a lovely creaminess in the mid-palate. The characteristic minerality of the Avize and Oger terroirs is fully expressed, complemented by an ethereal, saline finish of remarkable length. This cuvée is ideal as an aperitif or with briny seafood, and its structured qualities allow it to age beautifully in the cellar for 5 to 8 years, or even longer.
