Saint Romain 2023 - Louis jadot
Terroir and Origin
Saint-Romain – Louis Jadot comes from the Saint-Romain appellation, located at the westernmost edge of the Côte de Beaune. The vineyard, terraced on clay-limestone soils and well-exposed slopes, produces wines that are both fresh and mineral, whether white or red. This terroir gives the wine finesse, balance, and elegance, while reflecting the authentic character of this lesser-known but high-quality appellation.
Winemaking and Aging
For the reds, the grapes are harvested by hand, sorted, and then fermented in tanks with maceration to extract color and aromas. For the whites, fermentation takes place in oak barrels or stainless steel tanks, depending on the desired style. Aging generally lasts between 12 and 15 months, allowing the wine to develop complexity, structure, and roundness while preserving the freshness and minerality of the terroir.
Style and Tasting
Saint-Romain presents an elegant and balanced profile. The reds offer aromas of red and black fruits, sometimes spicy, with fine tannins and a lovely freshness. The whites are distinguished by notes of citrus, white-fleshed fruits, and a delicate minerality. The finish is harmonious, making this wine an ideal companion for poultry, red meats, fine fish, or shellfish.
