Myrtus Rouge 2023 - Sant Armettu
Corsican Wine from the Estate - Gilles Seroin
Myrtus Rouge is an emblematic cuvée of Domaine Sant Armettu, crafted on the granite slopes of the Gulf of Propriano in Corsica. This great red wine reveals the full richness of the island's grape varieties with a beautiful aromatic depth, notes of black fruit, spices, and Corsican maquis. Structured, elegant, and perfectly suited for fine dining, Myrtus Rouge captivates with its balance of power, freshness, and finesse.
The estate tells you about it:
From the hillsides of the Gulf of Propriano and Tizzano, on granitic sand soils, this wine is made from a blend of 80% Sciaccarellu, 15% Minustellu, and 5% Elegante. The grapes are destemmed and carefully sorted both in the vineyard and in the cellar, then vinified with indigenous yeasts. Fermentation takes place in large oak casks, without the addition of any additives or filtration, in order to preserve the full authenticity of the terroir. Aging continues for 12 months in large casks and demi-muids, followed by an additional 6 months in the bottle. Its garnet color with slightly brick-red highlights hints at a deep and spicy tasting experience, marked by notes of white pepper and clove. The Sciaccarellu reveals a more intense and structured profile, supported by the power of the Minustellu, while the Elegante brings a floral and ethereal touch.
