Myrtus Blanc 2023 - Sant Armettu
Corsican Wine from the Estate - Gilles Seroin
Myrtus Blanc from Domaine Sant’Armettu is a prestigious Corsican white wine produced from the granite soils of the Tizzano hillsides, a terroir strongly influenced by the Mediterranean Sea. This elegant blend of Vermentinu and Genovese perfectly captures the aromatic richness and freshness of great Corsican white wines.
The wine displays a beautiful lemon-yellow color with bright golden reflections. The nose immediately charms with delicate aromas of white flowers, ripe citrus fruits, and subtle exotic fruit notes. With aeration, mineral and lightly spicy nuances emerge, adding complexity and refinement.
On the palate, Vermentinu brings structure and its characteristic noble bitterness, while Genovese enhances the wine’s mineral tension and freshness. A 12-month ageing process in demi-muids on fine lees, combined with regular bâtonnage, adds depth, volume, and a silky texture. The finish is long, saline, and persistent.
With age, Myrtus Blanc gradually develops more complex and lightly petrol-like aromas, reminiscent of some great age-worthy white wines. This evolution adds an extra layer of sophistication and character to the tasting experience.
How should it be served?
Myrtus Blanc is best served between 10 and 12°C after slight aeration. It pairs beautifully with premium fish dishes, shellfish, scallops, creamy white meats, and aged cheeses.
What can you feel during the tasting? The tasting begins with an immediate sensation of freshness before unfolding into impressive aromatic depth and texture. The balance between mineral tension, floral notes, and mouth-coating richness creates a refined and persistent experience, ending with an elegant saline finish.
