Domaine Boris Champy is nestled in Nantoux, on the heights of Beaune, in the prestigious Burgundy wine region. A veritable showcase of nature, the estate extends over 12 hectares of vines, situated between 350 and 500 meters above sea level. These unique terroirs, often on slopes, benefit from optimum sunshine and ideal conditions for producing wines of great precision.
The estate is named after its owner and winemaker, Boris Champy, a passionate oenologist with a remarkable career path. After working at Dominus Estate in California, then as technical director of Louis Latour and manager of Clos des Lambrays, Boris will take over the estate founded by Didier Montchovet in 2019. Since taking over, he has pursued his predecessor's organic and biodynamic commitment with rigor and ambition. The estate is now certified organic and biodynamic.
Boris Champy takes a deeply respectful approach to ecosystems. Biodiversity is at the heart of his vision: natural grassing, hedge planting, manual tilling of the soil, sheep grazing in certain plots... Everything is designed to promote a balance between the vine and its environment.
This demanding viticulture produces lively, vibrant wines that are true to their terroir. The freshness of Hautes-Côtes de Beaune is enhanced by a low-intervention vinification process that respects the natural rhythm of the grapes. Aging is precise and balanced, without excessive extraction or wood.
Among the emblematic cuvées of Domaine Boris Champy, you'll find on Comptoir des Millésimes a range of red and white wines with a strong identity. Here are a few must-have references:
- Bourgogne Hautes-Côtes de Beaune “Altitude 399”: a Pinot Noir from high-altitude vineyards, with aromas of red berries and peony, and a slender, mineral mouthfeel.
- Bourgogne Hautes-Côtes de Beaune “Bignon 421”: this cuvée expresses all the finesse of a hillside Pinot Noir. A straightforward, silky wine of great elegance.
- Bourgogne Aligoté Doré: a lively, taut, floral white that demonstrates the potential of this grape variety when worked with care.
- Élévation 382 Blanc: a high-altitude Chardonnay, vinified with care, offering tension, purity and depth.
- Bourgogne Hautes-Côtes de Beaune “Altitude”: a fruity, accessible cuvée, ideal for discovering the house style.
Each domaine cuvée is numbered according to the average altitude of the vines from which it comes, an original and meaningful way of anchoring the wine in its terroir.
